absent landscapes explores French-Syrian artist Myriam Rey’s response to re-discovering a box of her father’s home videos that record a history of family gatherings and holidays in Lebanon, Syria, and France. By splicing together this archival footage depicting various journeys, interactions, and events—frequently projected onto the artist’s face and body—the film presents a poignant contemplation of the lingering memories left in the wake of loss.
