We are delighted that Myriam Rey's 2023 FVU-commissioned film 'absent landscapes' has been selected for London Short Film Festival 2025.
Prompted by the rediscovery of a box of her father’s old home videos, Rey’s short film 'absent landscapes' is a moving contemplation on memory, grief and loss that vividly illuminates how powerfully and far-reachingly traces of the past imprint themselves on the present.
The film is programmed as part of the event 'All We Have of The House' screening at the ICA, London on the 22nd January 2025. Featuring the interventions of orphaned celluloid, digital manifestations of personal recollection, and landscapes made eerie with memory, we consider how the physicality of the film archive displaces/places cultural history. How does the archive provide both an opportunity for an objective resurrection of the past, and the reconciliation of the home?
