And If In A Thousand Years

Patrick Hough

Exhibition

Event overview

And If In A Thousand Years features in an open call group show curated by contributing editor at Frieze, Tom Morton.

Originally commissioned for the Jerwood/FVU Awards 2017: Neither One Thing or Another, Patrick Hough's film explores the realms between real and replica. This spirit of uncertainty is encapsulated by the figure of a film prop - a sphinx that was once part of a majestic film-set and was then buried beneath the sand dunes of California. The cat re-emerges as an archaeological artefact in ghostly limbo, haunting the nearby town like a wildcat on the prowl.
