This spirit of uncertainty is encapsulated by the figure of a film prop - a sphinx that was once part of a majestic film-set and was then buried beneath the sand dunes of California. The cat re-emerges as an archaeological artefact in ghostly limbo, haunting the nearby town like a wildcat on the prowl.
