Rachel Maclean will be in conversation with Steven Bode, FVU Director, and Isabel Stevens, ‘Sight & Sound’ following a screening of her new work 'Feed Me', currently showing as part of British Art Show 8.
Maclean’s film is an audacious, provocative exploration of the commercialisation (and sexualisation) of childhood, and a corresponding infantilism in adult behaviour – a delirious confection of multi-layered digital images, whipped into even more extravagant form by the artist’s trademark multi-character theatrics. Part-fairy tale, part-hyper-modern fantasia, it’s a parable of the pleasures and the perils of excess.
