Exhibition
Two recent FVU commissions feature in JHG Sampler, a week-long exhibition offering a flavour of what’s to come when the new John Hansard Gallery opens officially later in the year. Join us at the launch party on 16 February, featuring live performances and fireworks in Guildhall Square.
Rob Crosse's Prime Time follows a group of older gay men as they journey on a cruise ship around the Caribbean. Deftly captured by Crosse’s oblique yet tender eye, the film is an affectionate study of human hopes and relationships, and a resonant meditation on how we both measure and deny the passing of time.
Don't Look at the Finger by Hetain Patel follows a ceremonial ‘fight’ between two protagonists, a man and a woman, in the grand architectural setting of a church. The way the characters communicate is a feat of choreography that combines Kung Fu with signed languages to express a ritualistic coming together.
Two other works by Patel will also feature in the exhibition: The Jump (2015, video) and Fiesta Transformer (2013, sculpture).
