The Bird Game

Marianna Simnett

Event

Event overview

An evening of events including a new spoken-word performance by artist Nora Turato exploring the possibilities and contradictions of language and a screening of Marianna Simnett’s new FVU commission The Bird Game, a hellish tale of childhood and transformation. In this wicked fairy tale, a loquacious and bloodthirsty crow, voiced by Joanne Whalley, lures six children to a secluded mansion and snares them in a sequence of deranged games.

Nora Turato’s new performance merges performance art and contemporary music, fusing fragments of advertising slogans, everyday conversations, literature and social media posts.

This event is programmed as part of Image Behaviour, the ICA’s annual convening dedicated to experiments in artists’ moving image, considering the intersectional, cross-disciplinary possibilities of the medium.

This performance includes explicit content; parental or guardian discretion is advised.
