Artworks by ten former residents of Delfina Foundation use humour, subversion and provocation to explore the power dynamics between individuals, institutions and the state.
Included is Shezad Dawood's Towards the Possible Film, in which two blue-skinned astronauts emerge from the waves on a red-rocked shoreline. As they feel their way around the sensory contours of the strange new landscape, they are confronted by the glare of the local inhabitants. The slow, tense standoff that follows evokes pivotal moments in colonial history, as well as other alien encounters beloved of science fiction.
