Feed Me shows in the Science Gallery London's inaugural exhibition, Hooked, which explores addiction and recovery through contemporary artworks and a programme of related events.
Rachel Maclean's 2015 film unpicks instant gratification – the holy grail of our superficial, accelerated age. Each character is performed by Maclean under a veil of gruesome prosthetics, costume and saturated digital illustration. These characters, in turn, run the gamut of current fashions, fixations and tastes, including the pre-teen social media fanatic; the silver-fox media entrepreneur and the starry-eyed child entertainer whose golden ticket to fame and fortune is also the meal ticket for the behind-the-scenes mentor, fairy godmother or industry svengali.
