Rachel Maclean's 2015 commission Feed Me shows alongside other bold, confrontational works by Tracey Emin, Sarah Lucas, Gavin Turk and others as part of the Arts Council Collection Touring Exhibition In My Shoes: Art and the Self since the 1990s.
In Feed Me, Maclean plays every character, thick with make-up, costumes and prosthetics, surrounded by colourful computer-generated effects applied using green screen. Under the surface lies a dark commentary on contemporary life. As we continue to feed the monster of consumerist desire, Feed Me is an indelible reminder of all the little monsters that are born in its wake.
